ABOUT US
ALASKA BRANCH HISTORY

We proclaim Jesus Christ and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace. Our local priesthood are ordained and serve without pay.

All of our local priesthood are ordained. Our priesthood consists of deacons, teachers, priests, elders, high priests, seventies, and evangelists.

We consider our church to be a restored church rather than a protestant church (see our basic beliefs section).

We have eight basic sacraments that are part of our basic beliefs. They are: marriage, Lord’s supper (communion), baptism by immersion, confirmation (baptism of the spirit), blessing of babies, ordination of priesthood, evangelist’s blessing, administration to the sick (see our basic beliefs section for details on each).

We have open communion generally the first Sunday of the month.

There are three other congregations in the Grand Rapids area: Northview, Union, and Grand Valley. See our link ‘Congregations/Link’ for addresses and other congregations in the state.

Our services are every Sunday. Church school is at 10:00 AM and services at 11:00 AM.

We are currently holding outreach services on Wednesdays at Heartland Healthcare Center (2320 E. Beltline) at 7:00 PM.

Our world church headquarters are in Independence, Missouri ( see our web site at www.cofchrist.org ).
